Many families experience struggles ranging from mild to severe.  It is my goal to work together with the family unit in order to address what is happening and develop a plan.  I have worked with a diverse population of families experiencing a variety of issues.  I have worked with children and families in the child welfare system since 2005 including issues specific to foster care and adoption.

EMDR:

(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is an evidence based psychotherapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) although it is not limited to treating only PTSD.  EMDR has been effective in symptom reduction for a wide variety of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. EMDR is a treatment approach that targets past experience, current triggers and future potential challenges resulting the alleviation of symptoms.   For more information about EMDR you can visit the EMDR International Associations website listed below.

Play Therapy:

I received my play therapy training at DePelchin Children's Center.  Play therapy provides children the opportunity to explore and express themselves in their natural language of play.  Therapy practices include non-directive and directive techniques as well as filial therapy.  Filial therapy is a practice in which parents are taught play therapy techniques to implement at home with their children.
